Amicalola Falls
The tallest waterfall in Georgia, 729′! This was my second time seeing these impressive, cascading falls and I will not soon forget it, my thighs were sore from those stairs for days afterwards! Hahaaa.

This is a mash-up of two visits to Georgia’s longest and (maybe?) most picturesque covered bridge. Like Cloudland, this is a spot I repeatedly end up in times of major self-doubt, confusion, loss, or heartbreak. Most recently, I made it out there in time to see a gloomy sunset and let my brain empty out […]
It feels like fall is in its last gasp ahead of a gloomy winter. Even with the naked trees, it is a gorgeous (sorry-not-sorry) view walking the rim right after sunrise (I still haven’t made it down to the gorge floor, one day!).
I finally drove out to Hard Labor Creek State Park to see one of the filming locations in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives! OMG, it was awesome!!! Jason Lives is one of my favorites in the franchise, starts off like a classic monster movie, has lots of goofy kills, and the showdown on […]
2017, 2018, 2019. Every time I go, I hike down to the waterfalls (it’s always a dry, hot day and the falls are merely a trickle), then back up to the the overlook. I keep ending up here alone, and there really is a healing effect in letting your head empty out over the 1000′ […]
I was incredibly hungover on this beautiful Sunday at Sweetwater Creek State Park, but I’m glad I went- I’d wanted to go for so long! The textile mill ruins and the rocky bluffs make it one of the prettiest short hikes nearby. I laughed a lot at Tallulah saying the muddy rapids looked like chocolate […]
On the last day of last-LAST year, Dean and I took to the mountains for a brisk hike in Helen. Our noses were getting red and runny from the cold when we stumbled upon a crowd charging into the lake for a “polar bear plunge.” On the shore, a polar bear mascot danced in front […]
Last-LAST November, Dean and I took a day trip to Black Rock Mountain State Park for some jaw-drapping vistas of the Appalachian mountains. I’m sure this place is unreal during peak leaf season since it’s incredible even at the tail end of fall. The scenery was still dotted with color amidst the barren brown and […]
Awhile back (while the trees were still green), James drove down to Georgia to hang out with us again. Every visit is a blast but this was our best one yet! We took a day trip to see the longest covered bridge in the state which spans 229 feet across the South Fork River. I’m […]
