Extremely thankful to have spent Memorial Day weekend at the beaches – kayaking thru mangroves covered in tiny crabs and spiders, sifting for shark teeth, and holding sea creatures. Jason’s friend Spinach showed us so many cool, fun things!
Stops on the way back home! Boyett’s! Hong Kong Willie’s Muffler Man with wasp balls! Haaaa! I loved Buc-ee’s, Jason did NOT.
First stop, Gainesville! We made quick stops at Paynes Prairie both ways- checked out Bolens Bluff on the way down and the Alachua Sink on the way back. Both rad! all those dots in the water are alligators! jumbo snails gator in a wig! gator waterslide! Jason’s friends at Satch Squared. We got the waffles […]
October 2018 Tucked behind a church in Calhoun Georgia are 50+ fairy sized structures of castles, cathedrals, houses, and more – all volunteer-crafted with pebbles, cement, wire, glass, and seashells! The detail is precious but there is no gallery preciousness to the space. It is so cool that kids can climb all over the castles […]
Last fall, we were lucky enough to catch the closing day of Wayne-O-Rama, Wayne White’s larger-than-life, candy-colored tribute to Chattanooga– its notable figures and Lookout Mountain. Holy shit, what a treat! I felt like I walked into a cartoon funhouse. And I learned a lot! It was such a delight (and free!) that we went […]
I’ve been driving for a little over four years now and I hate it more than ever. But I love road trips more than ever too! Last spring, my mom was back in the states for two family weddings so we were able to go on a fun weekend up toward North Carolina. Snaps from […]
Bits and bobs. Phew, that was a long, packed trip! Touring the Carter house in Franklin, home of 1,000 Civil War bullets. Earth mounds at the Kennesaw battlefield. “Wow, Steph. I didn’t know you were a Civil War buff!” The thing is, I’m not exactly. HOWEVER, like football, I grew up around a lot of […]
I love Alabama and can’t wait to visit again but I’ve gotta confess: Dean, Mum and Cliff did not care for ANY of it. Haha! I don’t know what other people look for when they visit a new place but I’m looking for rainbows, Satan and metal; all of which can be found in Beautiful […]
Alternate title: I fucking love William Faulkner! Growing up, I read very few books that weren’t horror, comics, or E.M. Forster (can’t explain how Forster snuck in…). Then in college, I got The Sound and the Fury as a required text and became instantly obsessed with William Faulkner. It was the most challenging novel I’d […]
Graceland, as it was last decorated by Elvis, is the mansion/compound of my dreams! The four of us had the pleasure of seeing it with a John Stamos narrated iPad tour. AMAZING. I loved every minute we were there. Man, how great would it be to play pool in that elaborately upholstered billiard room or […]
