James Made Us: Baked Pears

James is always in our postage-stamp kitchen, whipping up delicious food. He’s modest about it, but he’s kind of a cooking whiz so I decided to start documenting all the awesome stuff he makes. Last Sunday for brunch, he made us baked pears. They were sooo good! Even Dean, who doesn’t like fruit, liked these:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350-400°f (doesn’t matter terribly)
2. Oil the bottom of a pan
3. In a bowl, mix: oats, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger*
4. Slice D’Anjou pears in half, length-wise
5. Scoop out middle part
6. Cut a small portion off the bottom so the pears sit level in the pan
7. Add the oat and spice mix to the pear middles
8. Bake for 30-40 minutes
9. Enjoy!

*Portions (per pear) ~ 1tbsp honey, 1/2tsp cinnamon, 1/2tsp ground ginger, pinch cloves, 2tbsp brown sugar and oats each

    • Yeah, I was so happy to see they did a post on baked fruit! I can’t recommend these pears enough. Let me know what you think when you give ’em a try. :)
