The Raincoats

Anne Wood, Ana da Silva, and Gina Birch… a couple Saturdays ago. Eric was nice enough to snap a photo from his much higher height.

Even with the guy behind us passing out and getting carted away, this show felt kind of like an intimate party. Very warm and jokey. The loudest cheers to the new lyric, “When you ask me if I’m a feminist/I say why the hell would I not be?,” seemed to come from the minority of men in the crowd- that made me smile. They played all my favorite songs from their 1979 debut album and sang their cover of ‘Lola’ as an encore with the members of Grass Widow. God, it was such a special, fun, and perfect night. I can’t believe I got to see them live!
