The Wonderful and Frightening World of The Fall*

Don’t get me wrong- I love the spruces and ferns- but I do miss the burst of eye-popping autumn color I grew up with in New York. For most of the year, and fall is no exception, Seattle is strictly green.

I see a lot of this:

But this year, I noticed a lot of pretty reds and yellows! I guess they all hide out in the residential (and aptly named) Maple Leaf neighborhood where I work. I snapped these last month on an unusually sunny day. It always seems like fall comes and goes in the blink of an eye, doesn’t it?

Sigh. Now we’re entering winter. I have to confess being a terrible grinch around Christmas but I’m hoping I won’t be tooooo bad this year. I finished most of my shopping this past weekend at Urban Craft Uprising with only Schnitzel’s present left (I’m leaning towards this). Dean and I are hosting the 2nd Annual Cheese Christmas™ (haha) with our friends. AND, in an effort to be more festive, we’re even sending out holiday cards. Email me if you’d like one!

*This title is stolen from an album by The Fall. Back in my golden LiveJournal days, virtually every post was titled after a song, album, or lyric. I try not to do this now since it’s vague and kinda snotty (I was a snotty teen) but sometimes I can’t help myself… The Fall are so great!
