Yesterday, Eric and I spent the hottest part of the afternoon putting up posters around town. We had a good time and covered a lot of ground but holy hell it was draining. I was more or less dead on my feet by the time we started our late Saturday study session at Piece of Cake. Piece of Cake is one of Seattle’s hidden gems- they’re amazing and wonderfully unpretentious. It’s a really colorful bakery in the International District with a huge selection of Chinese and American treats: honeydew smoothies, eclairs, lotus pasteries, black forest cake. :)
my slice of mango and strawberry mousse cake, a cup of green tea.
This week’s study session project: I sketched some (most of them hilariously terrible) horses and unicorns, simplified the best one, and drew it on gray linoleum. Cut out all the negative space (the best part, I love carving). Rolled out some violet paint. Stamped a few tests!
My high school art teacher gave me a bundle of Speedball block printing tools when I graduated. I did NOT like high school but I loved my art teacher and her courses. This is still one of the nicest gifts I’ve ever received.
