Weather was beautiful all week so Jan took us to Southend on Sea.
It was another sizzler at 28°C. The beach which is covered in hot, smooth rocks but leads right into some cool muck.
You can’t see here, but there were these practically microscopic worms and fish all over the place- I must’ve accidentally smooshed dozens of them. Sorry, little guys!
Here I am with Jan, shuffling through the muck. We kept getting stuck- the muddy sand can really get ahold of you!
While we were out in the wet, muddy water, Dean said lay down with his legs sticking out of the shade in hopes of tanning them- no such luck. I think it’s a rule that your legs have to be a couple shades paler than the rest of you.
I dropped my bubblegum cone like a proper klutz. Haha- it made one of those sad, comedic ‘splat’ sounds. Luckily, a nice guy who works there jumped up and got me another one gratis- Laurel and Hardy tip their hats to his gallantry.
It was so hot, the lemon ices started melting through the cones before they could be eaten.
Omigod, aren’t these ice cream chairs are amazing? Also: note that the lemon-soaked cones have been traded in for cups.
Time for some mini bowling! Tiny balls and pins on strings.
Jan is the best at the 2 pence machines!
Last thing, we played a couple games of mini golf. Both the Aztec and Inca ‘adventures’- themed like a plane crash survival. The ‘caves’ felt marvelous after baking outside.
Dean says, ‘You were quite good, but I was better.’ Uh huh. We’ll see who’s so smug after the rematch…
