Last night, Dean and I grabbed a pizza in Belltown and watched the first televised reports that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. Boy, I did not expect that to pop up on a bar television… I didn’t have time for a proper reaction because I dashed off to see the Pipettes perform at the Crocodile straight after dinner (not to be crass, but I figured Bin Laden’s condition wasn’t likely to change).
That’s Ani and Gwenno, the current Pipettes line-up. I had a whale of a time at the show- even though I ended up going solo which I’m usually a big scaredy cat about. They were awesome: lots of giggly banter, cute outfits, and choreographed dance moves. I thought they put on a phenomenal show, even for the sleepy Sunday crowd. Songs off of Earth vs. The Pipettes are loaded with disco beats rather than ’60s pop, but they’re still decidedly pop songs with the familiar kitsch from their first album. PS: The songs off the first album have held up nicely. I definitely got the warm fuzzies dancing like a goofball to Pull Shapes.
