Shuffle off to Buffalo, part 2

Grandma and I were up hours before anyone else so she showed me some of her older photo albums over breakfast.

Here’s a photo of her as a teenager in her brother’s uniform. Isn’t she a beauty? She’s 88 years old now and still quite stately.

We spent the rest of the afternoon treasure hunting at the Buffalo Mission, AmVets, and Good Will. WOW. Buffalo is THE place for thrifting. Among other things, Dean and I are now the proud owners of a giant crayon-shaped lamp.

After shopping, we stopped at Charlie the Butcher for beef on weck and birch beer.

Over lunch we debated whether or not to steal some Charlie the Butcher salt ‘n’ pepper shakers. In the end, Aunt Barb just asked if they were for sale. He sold her a pair for $1 and told her, ‘You know, most people just steal ’em!’ Yikes, I’m glad we didn’t.
