Nate, Dave, James and I went for all three days. We spotted lots of Boba Fetts, ate out every day (we did Genki Sushi twice ‘cos they were doing $1 plates and are delicious!), sat in on lots of panels, and got to meet a lot of neat cartoonists/writers. Good times!
I’m a little bit in love with Sergio Aragonés. I got to ask if his story about scaring Marty Feldman to death was true and he says it is!* I was so charmed by Sergio and his marvelous moustache, I couldn’t find my camera when it was actually still around my wrist. Thanks to Nate for snapping the photo!
Sage words from Max Brooks. Nate was advised: ‘Always head north but pack appropriately.’
Colleen Coover kindly agreed to sketch me this cheeky princess even though the con was almost over and she was done with commissions. She shares my belief that all princesses should have ringlets. :-)
Nick Spencer and Dave. You can’t tell ‘cos of Dave’s coat, but both men are wearing professor blazers with elbow patches. How dapper!
At the Super panel with James Gunn (Tromeo and Juliet, Slither, PG Porn) and Rainn Wilson (Dwight on The Office and Bill/FISH BOY in House of 1000 Corpses). I think I took this right when Phoenix Jones (not pictured) started asking people to tase him. Just a personal note: James Gunn has always reminded me of my friend David Ginn. They’re both wildly creative and kinda sick- but in the best way. They’re the sort of guys I wish I could have known in high school. Oh! We ended up running into James Gunn the next morning at Angela’s Starbucks- bonus fan moment.
Mike Mignola, Pia Guerra, and Frank Quitely (his team beat my team in pub trivia on Monday but it’s cool. He’s a real nice guy.)
Heather on Friday and Saturday. Love her hair!
Fantagraphics! That’s Jacq with Megan Kelso on the left. Kristy and Gavin on the right.
The Fanta booth was my meet up point when I got lost. Of course, I think it’s the perfect home-base.
Saturday night at the Jewel Box Theatre: Can You Imagine? and The Rheas. Both excellent!
Nate, closing down the line. I think James and Angela are looking at Pedobear (who we passed a gazillion times!).
*There are a lot of other, larger factors that contributed to Marty Feldman’s death, but still- woah!
Fun pix! Looks like a perfectly nerdy (in a good, non-pejorative way) time!
;)

Sounds like you had fun. I’m a bit shy of conventions, but if I had a good chance to go I might just indulge my inner nerd. (Yes nerd, I’ve been told that I’m technically a bit lacking in credentials to make it to full geek status.) Love the Starfleet uniforms.
I like the Star Trek outfits!!
